Tianyun Hearing & Speech Rehabilitation Center
Beijing, China
About the School
Tianyun is home to over 30 children with disabilities from across China, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment where they live and study year-round. Most children only return home during the Chinese New Year, while parents who live nearby visit every few months. At the center, students undergo specialized language training, and many successfully transition into mainstream preschools, primary schools, and even universities after a period of rehabilitation.
Established in 2003, Tianyun has been at the forefront of providing professional hearing and speech rehabilitation services to deaf children. The center’s director, Ms. Quan Guiyun, brings over 20 years of expertise and dedication to her role. Under her leadership, Tianyun has transformed the lives of countless children, helping them unlock the ability to hear, speak, and thrive in society.

Friendship with BISS
BISS has seamlessly integrated the Letters to a Buddy program into their "Big Buddies Little Buddies" initiative, creating a supportive environment where high school students guide elementary students during letter-writing workshops.
This alignment not only strengthens the bond between BISS students of different age groups but also enhances their understanding of Deaf culture as they connect with the children at TianYun. By working together to craft thoughtful letters, BISS students build meaningful friendships with their TianYun peers, promoting communication, understanding, and a sense of shared humanity.
