Letters to a Buddy
Letters to a Buddy is a global initiative dedicated to connecting schools with Deaf and neurodiverse youth through letter exchanges and specially designed activity books. Founded on the belief that everyone deserves friendship, the program fosters empathy, communication, and cultural appreciation between diverse communities. With 5 chapters in Beijing, Los Angeles, Ecuador, and Canada, we collaborate with local Deaf schools and language rehabilitation centers to create one-on-one friendships.

Buddy School: Western Academy of Beijing
The MiaoYu Youth Deaf Rehabilitation Center in Beijing provides essential education and support to left-behind deaf children from the rural areas of China, yet many of these students lack opportunities to socialize and build friendships outside their school environment. The MiaoYu-WAB Pen Pal Program connects MiaoYu students, aged 8-16, with peers from WAB to foster friendships, enhance communication skills, and promote mutual understanding between the hearing and deaf communities.
